Jet Blue
Yesterday (I think it was yesterday, the time change is really f'ing with my head today) I flew across the country from Boston to the City of the Whales Vaginas. The lovely Admin Assistant who booked the travel for us got a Jet Blue flight and this, my friends, is an event that has completely changed my life. 7 hours on a plane has never gone so quickly.
I got on the plane around 5:00, turned on ESPN for some football, switched over to ESPNews to see PTI and Around the Horn, and I was off! I watched some Monday Night Football on ESPN, some American Gladiators on ESPN Classic, some Survivorman on Discovery, a little news, over to LC and the Hills crew at MTV, back to football, switched over to XM Radio to check the Sox game, etc.
I can't tell you how AWESOME that flight was. Not only do they have TV, Radio, etc. but they also have an extra couple of inches of leg room. I know what you're saying; "come on Tim, how much can an extra couple of inches really help?" Well, I'll tell you, the answer is ALOT. It's the difference between you getting your knees crunched when the guy in front of you leans his seat back and you not even noticing he's done it. It's the difference between being able to strech our legs out under the seat in front of you, and you having to sit with your legs folded for 6 straight hours.
I mean, what an airline! Why don't other airlines do this? Why would you ever fly on another airline if you had a choice? The price is the same, and honestly, if I'm flying for more than 2 hours I'm willing to pay an extra 50 bucks for the tv and extra space. It's worth it.
I have to fly home on Delta on Friday, and I'm dreading it. I think I'm going to try to switch the flight. Kudos to you Mr. Jet Blue for coming up with a wonderful business idea and making it work. I will continue to spread the good word about your lovely airline to all the world.
