Cape Air / Jet Blue Gateway Program
Jet Blue Airlines | Without getting into too many details, if you visit Cape Air's website it looks like they and jetblue have some type of collegiate/hiring program....... Could one also assume that employees of Cape Air may also have preferential hiring treatment by Jetblue, even without the "gateway" program because of their ties? And please don't turn this into a "jetblue is a photo/proto/hello moto scab" airline.
I worked as a jetblue ground ops in boston, and I knew a bunch of people that worked for cape air on the line. They fly jetblue non rev for free and they fly cape air non rev for free, for the preferential treatment for hiring of pilots, I heard of no pilots getting hired, because they were of some program, the hiring dept doesnt care about the agreements, all they care about is minimums and who you know.
I believe it is some sort of UND/Cape Air/Jet Blue program, From what I make of it is that people go from UND to Cape Air and build time for the a first officer postition at Jet Blue. Nothing is written out I don't believe and personally I feel it will fail if the economy goes bad. As far as I know, the only association UND has with Cape Air is an internship program that was advertised last year. If you had the Commercial, Instrument, and Multi you could intern there for a semester as an FO, not sure if it paid or not.
CapeAir had a deal with a fairly large New York based charter op. They would send guys over there when they were ready to move on from Cape Air. This was about 5 years ago though so I don't know. And the irony is, it's probably a lot harder to fly around single pilot in a 402 in the fog then sit in the right seat of a 190. ***
