Airbus A380 flies to South Korea for promotional visit
SEOUL, South Korea: An Airbus A380 arrived in South Korea on Wednesday, the last leg of its Asian tour aimed at promoting regional sales for the world's largest passenger aircraft, Korean Air Lines Co. said.
The jet is to conduct demonstration flights over South Korea three times Thursday before it leaves for Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, on Friday, said Lee Ji-hae, a spokeswoman at Korean Air, which helped arrange the visit.
Airbus is to deliver five A380 planes to Korean Air, South Korea's largest airline, by 2011, Lee said.
The A380 has visited dozens of airports worldwide and more than 70 airports will be ready for the plane by 2011, Airbus said earlier.
Lee said the plane visited Bangkok, Hanoi and Hong Kong before coming to South Korea.
Airbus has said 14 customers have either placed orders for or committed to buying a total of 173 A380s, with clients including Singapore Airlines, Emirates Airlines and Qantas.
Airbus is scheduled to deliver its first A380 to Singapore Airlines on Oct. 15, a delay of more than a year due to production problems.
