Travelling From Your Local Airport

For many of us there is a great sense of excitement when we set off for a holiday. We're looking forward to spending a relaxing time in a different region or country.

But there may also be stress involved in such a journey. Sometimes the stresses of travelling seem unavoidable but is this always the case? I used to dread using UK airports but I've noticed things changing in recent years.

I used to hate the fact that I'd need to get to one of the major London airports. They offered by far the greatest range of destinations and hence were often the only options available.

Unfortunately, flying from Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted rarely seemed to be a pleasure. The journey there would usually take hours and would often be longer than the flight itself.

This was made worse by the fact that you had to allow extra time to take into account the fact that the traffic was likely to be horrible. Was this really the most fun way to start a holiday? It seemed like a necessary evil.

Fortunately, I've found that it no longer is necessary. The rise of regional airports means that many of us live closer to international airports than we once did. In my case, it means that I can quickly fly from Southampton Airport to numerous UK and European destinations.

It's the same story for many other UK residents. Suddenly we have a more convenient option.

There are other advantages too. It's also become clear that flying from Southampton is frequently cheaper than opting to fly from London. When it's more convenient and cheaper too then things can't be bad!

Before you book your next holiday have a think about your local airport. Could you get a great flight deal from there and save yourself the hassle?
